According to Fay-Marie Browne, Deputy Principal Training Officer with the TAD, these improvements have been three years in the making, and are all being done as the TAD endeavours to provide the public service with timely, relevant, cost-effective training and training-related services. Her comments came as she delivered welcome remarks at the TADs 50th Anniversary event dubbed Chapter 50: Entering the E-Environment at the Hilton Hotel. Browne told the audience that the website will allow members of the public service to view, access services and conduct business with the Division. She added that it is intended that through the use of the website, they will facilitate the application processes for subscription to training courses, study and training leave. Referring to the virtual classroom component, she explained that it is expected to not only widen the TADs reach in terms of public officers accessing learning, but she insisted it presents an alternative mode for the delivery of learning that will cater to all learning needs. Moreover, she said the mobile app will facilitate greater and easier access to the TADs training products, both local in-service and overseas offers. With that in mind, the Deputy Principal Training Officer announced that the TAD has partnered with the Higher Education Development Unit within food safety training courses the Ministry of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation to utilise that Units MOODLE online platform TRIDENT learning to host the Divisions online learning courses. Moreover, she said that as the TAD celebrates its golden jubilee, it is also currently creating and seeking to implement a competency framework. This framework, will inform decision-making with respect to matters regarding human resource management and development. Additionally, the framework would be supported by the corresponding development of National Public Service Occupational Standards and competency-based learning interventions.

A Novel Reprise Concerning Fire Safety Training

[fire safety training]

The training is based on a model developed for adults in Australia in 2000. The adult version started in the United States in 2007 and was followed by the youth version in 2011. The training sessions also place an emphasis on ways to destigmatize mental illness. Harrison noted that in the 1970s society frowned on public discussions of cancer. But with time the secrecy surrounding the disease shrunk. We are hoping the same thing happens with mental illness. There should not fire safety training be a stigma, he said. The training is designed to help people to notice and to give them the confidence to say something, Orban said. The coalition, Orban said, is providing training throughout the county, and to date about 600 people have been trained. The goal is to have 1 in every 10 adults trained in mental health first aid.

The Most Recently Released Information About Food Safety Training

[fire safety awareness training]

Just as CPR helps even those without clinical training assist an individual having a heart attack, mental health first aid prepares participants to interact with a person experiencing a mental health crisis, Josh Martin stated in a press release. Mental health first aiders learn a five-step action plan that guides them through the process of reaching out and offering appropriate support. Martin

said the first aid training is available for people in any setting that might put them in contact with people with mental illness churches, shelters, etc. Martin said the state is putting the money that used to go to mental health facilities into community programs such as local group homes, which prepares the clients to return to their local communities. Success for those people, he said, often depends on the support structure they have in the community. The training included ideas that could benefit anyone trying to assist someone with mental illness during a difficult time: Show that you are concerned; try to get the person out of a hectic situation; remain calm; speak reassuringly, but firmly; dont try to touch the patient; get medical help if needed; speak slowing and clearly; use short sentences; be patient; acknowledge the terror the person may be feeling; and remind them even though their fear is real, its not life-threatening. When someone has a panic attack, Martin gave as an example, they can feel like they are dying or having a heart attack. Officers had opportunity to ask questions about conditions and the way they should try to respond. As police officers, some trainees said, they may have other duties during an encounter with a mental patient such as public safety. Martin said a police officers role might be different than that of a civilian, because of the types of encounters that might lead someone to call for their help. Still, Martin said he felt the training will help officers recognize mental illness and could give some guidance for officers in dealing with people. Martin had officers team up for an exercise: one officer took a rolled tube of paper and spoke into the ear of a colleague while another officer tried to carry on a conversation with them. He said for some people, mental illness is the distraction of another voice in their heads, telling them, for example, not to trust anyone.

When he lined up and started raising the trailer, he was seen getting out of the truck cab, walking to the back of the trailer and looking around.

Gadsden Police Sgt. John Hallman said all the departments sworn officers received an eight-hour block of training on mental health first aid. Martin said the first aid training is available for people in any setting that might put them in contact with people with mental illness churches, shelters, etc.

All drama school hopefuls have to audition and compete against many other applicants, irrespective of whether theyve done a summer school. Summer school involvement does not guarantee success. I dont think weve ever had a summer school participant who has gone on to train full-time with us, says Anna Travers, spokeswoman for Bristol Old Vic Theatre School. There have been applications from people who have attended summer school, but none has led to a successful offer. As in previous years, Bristol Old Vics 2017 summer courses include acting in contemporary drama and acting in Shakespeare plays. LAMDA, like many drama schools, also offers a wide range of courses. Occasionally one of the participants goes on to full-time training there. Among other summer courses, LAMDA runs an eight-week and a four-week Shakespeare course, either of which could be a springboard for someone wanting to do more training later or continuing professional development for working actors wanting to acquire or develop Shakespeare skills and confidence. This year, the Musical Theatre Academy, which won school of the year at The Stage Awards 2017, is running a summer school for the first time. Classes will be taught by our senior faculty staff, so participants will get the full MTA way experience, says founder principal Annemarie Lewis Thomas.
